The HEN offers multiple formats to achieve PALS Initial Certification or Recertification. The student should have access to an AHA PALS Manual before, during and after the class. Check with the director/educator at facility or can purchase via AHA or Amazon.
PALS PREP: Kristin’s Evaluate- Identify- Intervene (EII) Lecture with Shock and Hypotensive Marker Review. It is a great PREP for any PALS class and is mandatory content for the HEN PALS PREP Recertification Class. Classroom skills include CPR Coach, Respiratory/Airway station, IO, Infant and Child CPR/AED station and megacodes. Passing of a digital exam with > 84% per AHA required.
- Preparation includes the online lecture and AHA PALS pretest
- Working knowledge in ECG
- Familiarity with resuscitation equipment
- AHA PALS card awarded after completion
PALS Recertification: This Recertification course- for the provider with a current card- is a 4-6 hour, instructor led classroom format. Generally run in conjunction with a HEN Initial Provider course. EII with shock and hypotensive marker lecture, DVD, CPR Coach, IO, Respiratory/Airway station, Infant and Child CPR/AED station and megacodes. Passing of a digital exam with > 84% per AHA required.

Initial Provider Course: This Initial Certification Course also known as a Full Provider Course- for the provider who does not hold a current card/or has never taken the course. This is an instructor led classroom format which includes Lecture, DVD, CPR Coach, Respiratory/Airway station, Infant and Child CPR/AED station, Learning stations and megacodes. Passing of a written exam in class with > 84% per AHA required.

PALS SKILLS: For the Initial Provider student who has completed the AHA Heartcode Program or the Recertification Student who has completed the AHA Video Content and digital exam. This 2 hour skill verification includes CPR Coach, Respiratory/airway station, Infant and Child CPR/AED station, and megacodes.
